In his review of “Kitchen Disco” Noah really captures the delight he feels when reading and pouring over the illustrations in this quirky picture book. As he recounts the antics of the various fruits when they come to life and dance, his words really bring them to life for us in a colourful and rhythmic way and in the words of his school librarian Suzanna Kelly his descriptive writing “puts a smile on my face”

I liked the way Aasiyah split her review of the first book in the Naughtiest Girl in the School series into intriguing About, Likings, Dislikes and Scenes sections and then presented this visually on an eye-catching illustrated page. Like all good book reviewers, she shares her enjoyment of the story threads and characters conveying how reading the story made her feel as a reader without giving too much away. Well done!

Tate engages the interest of readers immediately by suggesting that if they had enjoyed Coraline by Neil Gaiman they will be bound to enjoy The Bad Beginning the first in the Lemony Snicket series. In his thoughtful review he sets the scene for the story and introduces the good and bad main characters with the emphasis on how he couldn’t wait to read what happened next. I liked the clever way he mentions helpful plot devices but purposefully does not delve too deeply into the story. You are left feeling that here is a keen reader who really recommends this book as a five star read!

Young Callum is my most enthusiastic Y7 student and it is a privilege to work with him. If ever allowed to be on “Mastermind” his specialist subject would be the David Walliams books. Callum seems to closely identify with so many of the Walliams storylines. He’s read & reviewed them all so choosing THE ONE for his entry to the competition wasn’t easy!
