Recognising children's achievements
We hear so many stories of young people who were disengaged and struggling with reading until they found that one book that changed everything for them. And we know how important and powerful it can be to recognise and reward hard work and progress when it comes to reading.
So with this in mind, we're launching our Student Star Reviewer Competition to recognise children's achievements and to help support all those working to promote reading in schools today!
How to enter the current competition
Simply email a copy of your chosen children's or young adult book review along with a short paragraph (max 200 words) about why you've chosen to enter it into the competition to firstname.lastname@example.org. You can also enter video book reviews.
Entry deadline: 30th June2020 Prize: Winning students will receive a Star Reviewer Certificate and National Book Token worth £15.
We will also publish the winning book reviews on our website (provided permission is given).
Star Reviewer Judge - Sue Polchow MCILIP
Judging the competition is our very own Sue Polchow, who many of you will already know.
Sue is active nationally on the CILIP Youth Libraries Group and prior to joining Capita she was both a Carnegie and Kate Greenaway Medals and Costa Children’s Book Award judge and regularly reviews children's and young adult books for the SLA School Librarian magazine.
I'm really looking forward to hearing from student reviewers as they share their favourite must-reads!
